Guidelines for authors

E-JournALL publishes reports of original research and teaching oriented papers in English, Italian, and Spanish into any of the following areas as they apply to the teaching and learning of these three languages:

- Applied Sociolinguistics, Applied Pragmatics;

- Discourse and Interaction in the Language Classroom;

- Language Teaching Methods and Practices;

- Applied Phonology and Phonetics, and

- Humor in the Language Classroom.

Full-length articles should report substantive research findings or demonstrate new methods and/or techniques for linguistic analysis of classroom instruction.

Teaching-oriented papers discuss effective practices informed by linguistic research for the teaching of any of the three languages represented by the journal.

Reviews examine and describe technologies and books relevant to E-JournALL’s focus and scope.

E-JournALL operates under the Creative Commons BY-NC-ND 3.0 license, which grants authors the right to republish their work, provided that its original publication in E-JournALL is acknowledged.

The corresponding author should submit three files: 1) a manuscript file, 2) an abstract file, and 3) a submission form that can be downloaded here. The three files should be sent as attachments in a single email to with the subject “Article Submission: [title of the article]”.

1) The manuscript file should be named after the article title (for example Humor_in_the_EFL_classroom.doc).  Authors are asked to keep their manuscript between 7,000 to 9,000 words. Longer or shorter articles may be accepted, but this is entirely at the discretion of the Editors.

2) The abstract file should be named with the article title and the word “abstract” (for example, Humor_in_the_EFL_classroom_abstract.doc).

3) The submission form file should be named after the corresponding author with the surname first (for example, Gironzetti.Elisa.doc or Di_Ferrante_Laura.doc).

The corresponding author assumes complete responsibility for the manuscript warranting that the article is an original work, has not been published before and is not being considered for publication elsewhere. S/he is also responsible for managing communications between E-JournALL and all co-authors, before and after publication, and ensuring that enquiries are answered on behalf of all the co-authors in a timely fashion.

Before submission, the corresponding author has to make sure that all authors are included in the abstract form, that the order in which they appear has been agreed to by all authors, and that all authors are aware that the paper was submitted.

After acceptance, the proof will be sent to the corresponding author at the e-mail address indicated in the submission form. S/he will deal with E-JournALL on behalf of all co-authors; after publication, E-JournALL will not necessarily correct errors if they result from errors that were present on a proof that was not shown to the co-authors before publication.

Finally, the corresponding author is responsible for making sure that all names of co-authors are included in the final article, correctly spelled, and that affiliations are rightly attributed and current.

Manuscript file guidelines

The manuscript file will include the text, footnotes, tables, and images of the article, as well as bibliographical references. Additionally, all tables and images should also be sent as separate files, numbered as they appear in the manuscript. Images should be TIFF or JPEG files in grayscale, black and white, or colors, with a minimum resolution of 500 dpi. Please use only footnotes instead of endnotes.

In order to guarantee blind peer-review, the manuscript should not include author’s name, abstract, affiliation, acknowledgements, or personal greetings. This information should be included in the abstract file.
